Meet Cristina Dunahoo, LPC GR/Rockford, MI therapist
Hello! I’m Cristina
I am licensed by the State of Michigan as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), license # 6401224060. I hold a Master of Science in Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling form Walden University, MN, which I graduated in November 2021, with a 4.00 GPA. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and have recently received my Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Certification (CAADC). Additionally, I possess a certificate in Trauma -Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, awarded by The Medical University of South Carolina in June 2022.
My Approach & Values
I believe that a client’s self-awareness and choices are key to developing self-direction and independence. Thus, to best support my clients, I use various techniques drawn from the Cognitive-Behavioral Model, EMDR, Family Systems Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Reality/Choice Therapy, and other therapy disciplines as needed, all intertwined with the latest research on neuroscience, brain development, and overall wellbeing. These techniques will provide methods to solve problems utilizing the client’s own strengths and experiential learning to meet their needs. Even when meeting with an individual, I attempt to incorporate the entire family, as it is appropriate and possible.
