Therapy Intensives

Grand Rapids, Michigan

Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, stuck in old patterns, or simply ready for deeper healing, Therapy Intensives offer a compassionate space for meaningful transformation, restoration, and renewed hope.

Unlike traditional weekly therapy, Therapy Intensives provide extended, focused support over several hours a day across multiple days. This immersive format allows you to slow down, feel supported, and engage in deeper therapeutic work without the interruptions that can occur
between weekly sessions.

Supportive mental health counseling conversation

At The CENTER for Wellbeing, Therapy Intensives are thoughtfully designed to help individuals move beyond temporary coping strategies and begin addressing the underlying roots of emotional pain with care, intention, and evidence-based treatment.

We offer Therapy Intensives for individuals navigating:

  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Substance Use Issues
  • Depression
  • Anxiety and chronic stress
  • Perinatal Mental Health concerns, including pregnancy and postpartum challenges

Together, we work to increase self-understanding, strengthen emotional regulation, process
difficult experiences safely, and build practical tools for lasting healing, resilience, and growth.

What To Expect: Therapy Intensives

Personalized, Supportive Care

Each intensive is tailored to your unique needs, goals, and pace. Sessions are structured to create a balance of focused therapeutic work, reflection, nervous system regulation, and restorative breaks.

Format & Structure

  • Duration: Typically 3–6 hours per day over 1–5 consecutive days
  • Setting: Currently offered virtually for comfort and accessibility
  • Pacing: Includes built-in grounding exercises, rest periods, and integration time to support emotional safety and sustainable progress

Therapeutic Approaches Used

Therapy Intensives often incorporate evidence-based approaches that support deep healing and nervous system restoration, including:

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): Helps process and reduce the emotional impact of traumatic memories
  • IFS (Internal Family Systems): Supports healing by exploring and understanding different “parts” of the self with compassion
  • Somatic Experiencing: Focuses on releasing stress and trauma held within the body and nervous system
  • CBT / DBT / ACT Approaches: Builds practical skills for managing anxiety, emotional distress, intrusive thoughts, and behavioral patterns

Therapy Intensives vs. Traditional Weekly Therapy

Therapy Intensives

  • Extended sessions over a few days
  • Focused, immersive healing experience
  • Opportunity for deeper momentum and continuity
  • Ideal for specific goals or breakthrough work

Traditional Therapy

  • Weekly 50 minute sessions
  • Ongoing maintenance and support
  • Progress unfolds gradually over time
  • Helpful for long-term support and ongoing care

Who May Benefit from a

Therapy Intensive?

Therapy Intensives may be especially helpful for individuals who:

  • Feel emotionally “stuck” despite ongoing therapy
  • Want focused support for a specific issue or life transition
  • Have demanding schedules that make weekly therapy difficult
  • Are navigating recent trauma, burnout, or overwhelming stress
  • Want to complement ongoing therapy with deeper, targeted work

You do not have to carry everything alone. Healing is possible, and meaningful change can
happen when you are given the time, support, and space to truly focus on yourself.
